A Small Desk by the Window
The best desk position depends on glare and access, not just the view. A desk perpendicular to the window usually gives the work surface even light and leaves the glass visible. Put the monitor slightly farther from the glass than the notebook, so the screen does not compete with the brightest area in the room.
A narrow desk benefits from fewer permanent objects. Keep the lamp, one container for pens, and whatever is in active use. Cables can follow the rear edge and drop through one point rather than crossing the floor. The goal is not an empty photograph; it is space to actually work.
If the window opens inward, test the full swing before fixing shelves or a monitor arm. A few centimeters of clearance can decide whether the arrangement remains pleasant over time.
